Still working on Christmas things, but as the holiday approaches I realized I had not done Pauli’s Christmas photo! So, here she is, wishing you all warmest Christmas wishes! Even she knows that Christmas is all about love!

I am starting to think about Thanksgiving Dinner. I know, most people have long since planned out what they’re cooking, but because it’s just the two of us, I really haven’t given it much thought. I’m not making a turkey, that’s too much food for 2 people and I don’t want all that leftover stuff.
So, time to start ruminating… Any suggestions?
Morikami at Night
We went to the Morikami last night. It’s a Japanese garden and museum here in South Florida. We love to go there and enjoy the natural setting and take photos. Because I lived in Japan as a child is has that feel of being “home” to me and it’s also just beautiful.
They normally close at 5 pm, but once a month from May through September they have Sushi & Stroll and you can enjoy the gardens until 8:30. They also have various other things going on including a buffet dinner.
We had sushi (of course!) and mochi ice cream (I promise I’m going to try my hand at that later this year and blog it!). I took over 200 photos, but this was my favorite. It was a rare opportunity to get an image of the lights on the water. I just had to share.
If you live in the area, do go check out the Morikami. It’s a real jewel here in Delray Beach. And if you’re trying to think of a place to see on vacation, do check it out. Just remember, it’s closed on Mondays!
Moving Pictures
It’s Handmade Monday! I didn’t do much crafting during the week, I have been doing other things and playing with my new toy, which I will introduce you to in a moment. First though, I want to mention a recipe I did post during the week that everyone probably will miss otherwise.
If you have dogs, it’s a fun summer treat, and very inexpensive and easy to make. You can find the recipe for Pauli Pops here in case you missed it. It’s full of healthy ingredients and you can change them to suit your dog’s tastes and needs. Pauli gives it a big thumbs up, and it’s definitely handmade! 🙂
My only other thing I have is what I’ve been doing with my new toy, and the reason for the title for this blog post. A little explanation. Years ago I had a VHS video camera. I drove my kids and family crazy but I’m so glad I had it. Those tapes are a treasure now. Of course, it finally quite working. My little Kodak Easyshare had a little video capacity, but it also quit working. Now I broke down and got a real digital video camera. Of course, there’s a learning curve but WOW! Fun!
I have made a few little videos, but I’m not sure how to share them here. However, if you really want to go check out a cute little one I made of a little bird and his mom, you can go to my flickr page here.
A Little Help From My Friend…
It’s Handmade Monday and I’ve had a few glitches in my item I’ve been working on. I’ll do an entire blog on it, maybe more than one, but it’s not really ready for prime time as they say, so I was searching desperately for something to blog about this morning, at the last minute. I do have another pursuit that consumes me that I haven’t really blogged. Partially because I had not figured out how to link Flickr and my blog, and partially because I do incorporate it as a matter of course into my craft blogs and tutorials anyway. That would be photography.
However, just doing a blog about my pictures seemed a little lame, so I thought I would use them as a way to introduce my other passion, my golden retriever, Pauli. She is sort of handmade, but not by me. I did have her mother, who went by the name of Winfrey and was my first Champion. Pauli is now retired from the show ring, and spends her days lounging around and graciously letting me take photos of her. She also chases lizards, walks on the Ave downtown any chance she gets and keeps me wonderful company. She’s particularly photogenic. See what you think. 🙂
Then head over to Wendy’s and check out the real items for Handmade Monday for this week! But come back, I promise to have some things cooking when I get this thing I’m working on worked out! 🙂
