Jewel in the Grass

The Dragonflies are out in force, and my camera is back from the shop. I have been a little lax about taking photos but in the space of about 15 minutes I got a White Lined Sphinx Moth, a juvenile Black Racer (snake) a blue Damselfly eating a bug (not for the squeamish) and this beauty!
I don’t know what this one is, but I managed to click off 3 or 4 shots before she decided I was too close and headed for another spot. Just thought I would share!

Red Snow Suits

I tried to post this for Father’s Day, but had problems posting it.  Sometimes I can’t make things work, and then suddenly I can.  Oh well!  🙂
I wanted to say, this is my Dad and me, when I was little, and I love this picture. It was taken in Denver, I’m sure by my Mom.  I don’t remember living there, we weren’t there very long.  But it looks like we were having fun, in the snow.  Well, ok, it looks like I wanted to get down, I probably wanted to go see the ducks and fall into the water.  🙂

So, Happy Father’s Day (again!) Dad.  I love you!   Thanks for always keeping me from falling into the water! 🙂

What Pretty Teeth

One of the best thing, maybe THE best thing about living where we do is the proximity of really cool creatures that most people have to go to a zoo to see. I can be right there in the middle of “nature” in 15 or 20 minutes and see something like this:

I don’t think I will ever get bored with it. I know most people come down here for the beach, but I am just in awe of the birds and the gators. 🙂

Moving Pictures

It’s Handmade Monday!  I didn’t do much crafting during the week, I have been doing other things and playing with my new toy, which I will introduce you to in a moment.  First though, I want to mention a recipe I did post during the week that everyone probably will miss otherwise.

serve! If you have dogs, it’s a fun summer treat, and very inexpensive and easy to make.  You can find the recipe for Pauli Pops here in case you missed it.  It’s full of healthy ingredients and you can change them to suit your dog’s tastes and needs.  Pauli gives it a big thumbs up, and it’s definitely handmade!  🙂

My only other thing I have is what I’ve been doing with my new toy, and the reason for the title for this blog post.  A little explanation.  Years ago I had a VHS video camera.  I drove my kids and family crazy but I’m so glad I had it.  Those tapes are a treasure now.  Of course, it finally quite working.  My little Kodak Easyshare had a little video capacity, but it also quit working.  Now I broke down and got a real digital video camera.  Of course, there’s a learning curve but WOW!  Fun!

I have made a few little videos, but I’m not sure how to share them here.  However, if you really want to go check out a cute little one I made of a little bird and his mom, you can go to my flickr page here.

It’s Spring!

When I see Redwing Blackbirds I’m always reminded that it’s spring! I love their beautiful trilling song, and I love the flash of red on their shoulders.
I am working on a few things, but today, I hope you get outside and enjoy, because, it’s SPRING!

A Little Help From My Friend…

It’s Handmade Monday and I’ve had a few glitches in my item I’ve been working on.  I’ll do an entire blog on it, maybe more than one, but it’s not really ready for prime time as they say, so I was searching desperately for something to blog about this morning, at the last minute.  I do have another pursuit that consumes me that I haven’t really blogged.  Partially because I had not figured out how to link Flickr and my blog, and partially because I do incorporate it as a matter of course into my craft blogs and tutorials anyway.  That would be photography.

However, just doing a blog about my pictures seemed a little lame, so I thought I would use them as a way to introduce my other passion, my golden retriever, Pauli.  She is sort of handmade, but not by me.  I did have her mother, who went by the name of Winfrey and was my first Champion.  Pauli is now retired from the show ring, and spends her days lounging around and graciously letting me take photos of her.  She also chases lizards, walks on the Ave downtown any chance she gets and keeps me wonderful company.  She’s particularly photogenic.  See what you think.  🙂

Then head over to Wendy’s and check out the real items for Handmade Monday for this week!  But come back, I promise to have some things cooking when I get this thing I’m working on worked out!  🙂
