Glittery Mess

I am very late for Handmade Monday, I made something earlier in the week, and should have just waited and posted it today, but couldn’t wait.  You can see it here. (It’s a musical security blanket for a baby).

Today I did a simple birthday card for a friend who has a birthday coming up. I had done something similar for Thank You cards. They are really easy, altho I’m not all that good at anything that takes really steady hands. All I do is paint glue (either white glue or in this case gel school glue) on my stamp, stamp on my card stock and then sprinkle the glitter over the glue. I let it set and then tap off the excess.
I stamped the sun on some yellow paper and cut that out to glue on and hand wrote the “Happy Birthday” (not my strongest skill set!). It’s pretty amateurish looking but this is an old friend, and I think she’ll like it anyway.
Now, off to Handmade Monday to see what everyone else has been doing.

  1. awww you card is so lovely and cheery! i love handmade cards like this 🙂

i had a peek at the security blanket you made – such a fab idea! i haven’t seen them with heads, yours is adorable and a great idea to add music too 🙂 x

Thank you for the kind comments on the card, it’s not all that great, I wouldn’t sell it! LOL

As for the security blanket, they are ALL the rage here in the US, my grandson has several (some have the heads in the center like the one I made, some have them on one end). I didn’t see any with a music button, but I bet some company makes them. Anyway, it was really easy to do.

Glittery card is so pretty, you can never have too much glitter and your friend will love it as made with love

  3. Wendy says:

You know, I think your friend will love the card – it’s such a fun and happy card! I’m off to take a peek at your blanket, sounds intriguing!

  4. ClairLou says:

Just went to look at the musical blanket. Genius, makes me wish my kids were that little still.

    • Susie says:

Well, I think these make up easy enough they might be great gifts for friends too. At least friends you like well enough to go to a little trouble for. 😉

  5. chris powell says:

LOve your card so summery, looked at your security blanket and it is really lovely 🙂

  6. knitnrun says:

I can’t see what is wrong with the card at all. I bet anyonewould be more than happy to receive it – don’t be so hard on yourself. The security blanket is great!

    • Susie says:

Oh, I never like that sort of thing once I’m done, I know where all of the *issues* are I guess. I am working on something this week that is making me crazy because it’s not *perfect*. But thank you!

  7. handbagsbyhelen says:

Love the musical security blanket idea!

  8. Susie says:

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments. They keep me going.

  9. Melanie says:

Thanks for your lovely comment about my hand stitched card – everytime I make a card now I want to add stitching, but it is more time consuming.

I love your cards, I think the hand writing is great – that’s an area I struggle with, when adding sentiments to my cards.
