Mixed Media

I have not felt very creative lately, I completely missed last weeks Handmade Monday not because I forgot but because I didn’t make anything, and this weeks first project idea was a complete disaster (read it just didn’t come out very interesting or well so I’m not even blogging about it).  But then I got another idea, and I not only liked it, I kind of love it!

So, here is the thing.  I mentioned to my awesome neighbor Pam that if she had some extra jars I needed them for projects.  I was thinking the odd throwaway mayo jar or pickle jar.  Well, she gave me 2 cases of Ball Jars that she had.  They have been sitting in my kitchen waiting for inspiration to hit me.  I couldn’t etch them, obviously since they have embossed writing on them, and I wasn’t yet up for doing Christmas things in jars.

But, todays project was PERFECT for Ball Jars. I hope you’ll agree.  And I still have more of those jars to play with.  🙂

So, for now, head over to Make It and let’s make some Glittery Mod Podge Jar Candles.
And don’t forget to head over to Handmade Monday, I’m so very late today, but that’s where I’m going right now!

I tried to post this for Father’s Day, but had problems posting it.  Sometimes I can’t make things work, and then suddenly I can.  Oh well!  🙂
I wanted to say, this is my Dad and me, when I was little, and I love this picture. It was taken in Denver, I’m sure by my Mom.  I don’t remember living there, we weren’t there very long.  But it looks like we were having fun, in the snow.  Well, ok, it looks like I wanted to get down, I probably wanted to go see the ducks and fall into the water.  🙂

So, Happy Father’s Day (again!) Dad.  I love you!   Thanks for always keeping me from falling into the water! 🙂

Something For Dad

It’s Handmade Monday so of course I’m running very late. I actually had the project mostly done yesterday but I wanted it to dry completely before I put it together which means I couldn’t get my final photos done yesterday, which means I didn’t do my write up –etc etc etc (please read that with Yul Brynner’s voice from The King and I, it’s far more effective…).

Anyway. It’s Father’s Day next Sunday, and I have to get this done and in the mail. My Dad makes the most wonderful cards for people for their birthdays. He’s also difficult to get presents for, so I thought maybe he would like something to help him organize his cards. I’ve been working on it for weeks, and kept running into snags. Finally, it’s done!

I think it turned out well. I’m not going to say this was simple or easy. It combined some things I enjoy with some things I really don’t like to do at all, but I think a lot of projects are like that (sewing –cough cough).

It also gave me an idea for something else I’m going to make, which I’ll share later this summer.

So, let’s head on over and look at how I made my Daddy a Card Keeper. 🙂

What Pretty Teeth

One of the best thing, maybe THE best thing about living where we do is the proximity of really cool creatures that most people have to go to a zoo to see. I can be right there in the middle of “nature” in 15 or 20 minutes and see something like this:

I don’t think I will ever get bored with it. I know most people come down here for the beach, but I am just in awe of the birds and the gators. 🙂

Moving Pictures

It’s Handmade Monday!  I didn’t do much crafting during the week, I have been doing other things and playing with my new toy, which I will introduce you to in a moment.  First though, I want to mention a recipe I did post during the week that everyone probably will miss otherwise.

serve! If you have dogs, it’s a fun summer treat, and very inexpensive and easy to make.  You can find the recipe for Pauli Pops here in case you missed it.  It’s full of healthy ingredients and you can change them to suit your dog’s tastes and needs.  Pauli gives it a big thumbs up, and it’s definitely handmade!  🙂

My only other thing I have is what I’ve been doing with my new toy, and the reason for the title for this blog post.  A little explanation.  Years ago I had a VHS video camera.  I drove my kids and family crazy but I’m so glad I had it.  Those tapes are a treasure now.  Of course, it finally quite working.  My little Kodak Easyshare had a little video capacity, but it also quit working.  Now I broke down and got a real digital video camera.  Of course, there’s a learning curve but WOW!  Fun!

I have made a few little videos, but I’m not sure how to share them here.  However, if you really want to go check out a cute little one I made of a little bird and his mom, you can go to my flickr page here.

A Chilly Treat

There’s nothing better than ice cream on a hot day. Kids of all ages know this. Even dogs love a cool treat. You can buy frozen treats for your dog, but you can make them for a lot less money, and control what they eat. This recipe is easy to adapt to your dog’s tastes or nutritional needs.

I use yogurt as the base, and go from there. You can use low fat yogurt to keep the calories down. I think these have about 60 calories each, altho that is a ballpark guess. You can figure it out when you make them by simply adding the calories for each item you include and dividing by the number of servings you make. Don’t overdo, since it’s no better for our pets to overindulge than it is for us.

Ok, enough of that, let’s look at the recipe for Pauli Pops!
